ESIC and EPF are the statutory legislations to be followed by both employer and employee

As now, both the registration is mandatory, companies are bound to follow the process. The registration can be done online by uploading required documents. The EPF scheme helps the employee to get provident fund and pension during job and after retirement respectively. The ESIC is meant to provide accidental as well as medical benefits to the employees and their families. Contribution under EPF is mandatory for both employer and employee if the basic salary is up to 15000/- per month. For ESIC contribution, the employees monthly gross wage should be up to 21000/- per month.


Registration under Employee Provident Fund Organization:

Form 19 is required for PF amount withdrawal. The duly filled form with below details need to be submitted to the EPFO:

EPF Registration Process:


For making the contribution towards EPF, both of them required to be registered under the EPF. PF Online registration will be done by filling up the required proforma with supporting documents of employer-side first. After submission, the authorities make a visit to verify the documents as well as business. After satisfactory inspection, they issue the letter with PF Code number to the employer. Almost similar process needs to be followed for employee side also.


Documents required from Employer:

  • Copy of shops and establishment certificate
  • Certificate of Incorporation for Company
  • Copy of MOA
  • PAN details of company
  • Proof of incorporation – first sales invoice/ license issued by competent authorities
  • List of employees with salary details
  • Address Proof

Employees Document:

  • PAN Card
  • Address Proof
  • Performa to be filled
Employee and employer both need to contribute 12% of basic monthly salary. Some administration charges are additional for an employer.

ESIC Registration for Employer

Documents Required:

  • License issued under Shops and Establishment Act or Factories Act
  • MOA and AOA or Partnership Deed
  • Certificate of commencement with evidence
  • List of Partners or Directors
  • PAN Card
  • Address Proof of the Factory/Firm/Establishment
  • Copy of bank statement/ Cancelled cheque
  • For employee Registration:
  • Form1 along with family photo
Within 3 months a permanent photo ID will be provided to the employee for future use.

After registration, employer and employee need to contribute towards the ESIC fund. The employee contribution is 1.75% of gross monthly wages and employer contribution is 4.75% of gross monthly wages. The ESIC scheme introduced to provide medical and monetary benefits to Employees and their family in case of sickness, employment injury, disablement, maternity, and to make provisions for related matters.
